SnapSave Twitter: the same routine, built for X
If you typed SnapSave Twitter into Google, you probably know the routine from Facebook: copy a link, paste it, pick a quality, save the file. SnapTwitter applies that same routine to posts on X. Paste the post link above and you get a list of the MP4 files the video is available in, along with any photos or GIFs in the post.
SnapSave itself is built for Facebook. Its homepage describes it as a Facebook video downloader that saves videos to a phone, PC or tablet in Full HD, 2K and 4K as MP4, working in the browser on Android and iOS. SnapTwitter is the X counterpart, so the flow feels familiar but the source is different.
That difference matters most when you look at the quality list. An X video has its own limits, set when it was uploaded, and this page explains what they are. Once you know them, you can pick the right file instead of looking for a 4K option that ordinary X uploads do not have.
How to save an X video the SnapSave way
- 1
Open the post on X, tap Share, and choose Copy link. Links in the form x.com/username/status/ID and twitter.com/username/status/ID both work.
- 2
Paste the link into the box at the top of this page and submit it.
- 3
Review the list. Each video file is shown with its resolution, and photos and GIFs in the post appear as separate items.
- 4
Choose the file you want and save it to your phone, tablet or computer.
What resolution can an X video actually have?
X sets clear limits for videos uploaded on the web. According to the X Help Center, the maximum size is 1920 x 1200, or 1200 x 1900 for vertical video. The frame rate can go up to 40 fps and the bitrate up to 25 Mbps, with aspect ratios from 1:2.39 to 2.39:1.
Accounts without Premium can upload clips up to 140 seconds long, with a maximum file size of 512 MB. Premium subscribers can post videos shorter than 4 hours at 1080p, with files up to 16 GB. Videos between 2 and 4 hours are capped at 720p.
In practice, an ordinary X video tops out around Full HD. A 2K or 4K version is not something X keeps for these uploads, so no downloader can offer one. If the original was smaller, the top option in the list will be smaller too.
Why the list shows the options it shows
When you paste a link, SnapTwitter reads the versions of the video that X makes available for that post. X usually keeps several sizes of the same clip so it can play on different connections and screens. The list you see is those versions, labeled by resolution.
The largest size in the list is the closest you can get to what the uploader posted. Smaller files are handy when you want to save storage or share the clip in a chat app. If a post only shows one or two sizes, that reflects what X has for that video, not a setting you missed.
GIFs in a post are listed as short MP4 clips, which is how the Twitter GIF Downloader saves them as well. Photos are listed separately, and you can save each one on its own.
Saving on Android and iPhone
On Android, copy the post link from the X app, open this page in Chrome or another browser, and paste it. After you choose a file, it goes to your Downloads folder, and most gallery apps pick it up from there.
On iPhone, use Safari. Paste the link, choose a file, and confirm the download. The file lands in the Files app under Downloads, where you can open it and tap the share button to save the video to Photos.
On a computer the steps are the same. Paste the link, pick the resolution, and the MP4 saves to your usual download location.
